PROJECT UPDATE: Week of July 24, 2017

The recent construction work at Keahole Airport Road was completed safely and ahead of schedule.  A big thank you to the Kona International Airport at Keahole, Hawaii Police Department – Special Duty Police Officers, Grace Pacific LLC Paving & Asphalt Plant Crew, Goodfellow Brothers Inc. employees, and all the other companies and personnel involved in the planning and construction of the intersection to help ensure the work was completed as quickly and safely as possible.  No other major delays are expected at the Airport intersection for the next several weeks.  Most importantly, thank you to the community for keeping our crews safe and tolerating the traffic delays created by the necessary construction activities.

OTEC intersection will be under construction starting Monday, July 24th thru Wednesday, July 26th.  Motorists, bikers and pedestrians entering or exiting the OTEC/NELHA area can expect minor delays in their commute as a result of the planned work.   Please follow all posted traffic control signs and flaggers during this time.

Temporary traffic signals at the Kealakehe intersection are scheduled to be activated Tuesday, July 25th and the existing traffic signals will be removed.  Motorists, bikers and pedestrians traveling through the area can expect minor delays and traffic shifts through Friday, July 28th.

Work impacting traffic flow is planned in advance to be expedited as quickly and safely as possible.  Please continue to help us keep motorists, bikers, pedestrians, and our workers safe by respecting the posted work zone speeds.  In addition, please remember the new asphalt paving in the North segment of the project is still an active work zone. This area is closed to the general public for any exercising – walking, biking, jogging, and vehicular traffic for your own safety.
