All retaining wall excavation has been completed and wall construction is progressing concurrently at all locations. Installation of drainage structures, street light and traffic signal foundations, and conduit have been completed on the makai side of Hina Lani intersection. Temporary traffic signals have been installed at the Hulikoa intersection and temporary traffic signals are currently being installed at the Hina Lani intersection. Roadway subgrade has been completed through the Hulikoa intersection in preparation for base coarse and pavement in the coming weeks.
Crews will continue construction on the retaining walls throughout the project and place geogrid and aggregate base coarse at the Hulikoa intersection this week. Pavement is anticipated for the Hulikoa intersection in the next two weeks.
As day construction continues to progress, we anticipate starting night work on the makai side of Kealakehe Parkway the night of March 27th. Night crews will be constructing sewer force main, reclaimed water, and gravity sewer across Harbor road. Please be attentive to the traffic control set up at this intersection. Traffic disturbances should be expected at Kealakehe intersection from March 27th through April 16th during the hours of 7:00PM to 5:30AM Sunday – Thursday.
As a reminder to both motorists and pedestrians, please stay off of the project site during and after work hours for your safety and our crews. Please respect the work zone as well as the traffic control devices and use extra caution when traveling through the construction zone.
