Completed concrete median swale South of Hina Lani
Form and poured 80% of the concrete median barrier North of Hina Lani – work currently in progress
Installed HELCO, HTCO, and OTWC (Spectrum) pre-cast utility boxes, installed and concrete jacketed new utility package conduit crossing the Makai highway at Kealakehe – work currently in progress
Completed SIC utility drop on the Mauka side of Lanihau intersection
Installed street light foundations and conduit on the Mauka side of Kealakehe intersection
Finish graded medians throughout the project
Completed base lift asphalt paving on Makai South part of project and completed grading and asphalt paving on the temporary crossover built in the median on the South end of the project
Striped the Northbound fog line on the existing highway and striped some of the new road in preparation for the next traffic transition
Upcoming new work:
Complete new HELCO, HTCOM, and OTWC (Spectrum) utility package crossing at Kealakehe intersection
Complete backfill of street light conduit and foundations at Kealakehe intersection
Mass Excavation for the new Mauka leg of Lanihau intersection
Hammering and excavation of HELCO, HTCO utility relocations and installations on the Mauka side of Lanihau intersection
Backfilling swales and median fine grading south of Hina Lani intersection
Re-construct the Kealakehe Makai side intersection raising the grade and continuing the asphalt paving thru the area
Complete grading and asphalt paving on the Makai side of the new concrete median barrier
Complete temporary paving in preparation for traffic transition to Stage 4
Complete all striping required to transition traffic to Stage 4
Transition traffic to Stage 4 of construction staging – all Northbound and Southbound traffic on Makai lanes from Airport to Kealakehe
Upcoming Work Affecting Traffic:
Trucks will be pulling in and out of median work zones at both Hina Lani intersection and South of Kealakehe intersection, please use caution when construction vehicles with flashing hazards and strobe lights are driving around in these areas.
Kealakehe intersection re-construct is scheduled to begin Sunday evening, January 7th, 2018 at 8:00 P.M. and estimated to last thru Wednesday afternoon January 10th, 2018. This is a 24-hour a day operation and minor impact to traffic flow through Kealakehe intersection should be expected through these dates, please plan accordingly.
Traffic Transition Update:
The traffic transition to Stage 4 is scheduled for the night of January 16th, 2018. The transition operation will not begin until 10:00 P.M. and will finish before 5 A.M. Wednesday morning January 17th, 2018. Please see below drawing showing traffic configuration on the highway in Stage 4.
Please continue to help us keep motorists, bikers, pedestrians, and our workers safe by respecting the posted work zone speed limits. In addition, please remember that areas not open to traffic are active work areas. For your own safety, these areas are currently closed to the general public for all vehicular traffic and all exercising, including walking, biking, and jogging.
